It’s been a few weeks since the Buckeyes have actually played a football game, but here we are again, for the last game of the season, which just so happens to be the last game for Luke Fickell as head coach, at least for the next few years.

Here are some Key Match Ups to watch out for in the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl, that puts the Ohio State Buckeyes up against an arch nemesis of the past 5-10 years the Florida Gators.

In a game that will showcase the ghosts of Urban Meyers past and the Ghosts of his future, if safe to say that he’s had a hand in the team Florida will field this weekend and although he hasn’t yet he will have a huge part in where the Buckeyes future will take them.

The first match up that you should keep a close eye on is the battle for time of possession. Statistically speaking, both teams enter the game with highly ranked defenses and lower ranked offenses, so which ever offense can hold the ball longer will have the better shot of escaping Jacksonville, Florida with a victory.

Piggy backing off of the last match up, the key for each offense will be the quarterback play of each team. The Gators due have an edge in this department simply because of the age of the starting quarterback and all around knowledge of the system.

Although Florida’s john Brantley has been around longer, he hasn’t had much experience as one might imagine, and why you ask, well it could have something to do with the man that some call Tim Tebow.

Nonetheless he has been in the Gators system much longer than Braxton Miller has been in the Buckeyes system.

Braxton Miller, a true freshman, has improved his game dramatically from the beginning of the season, improving in every game. Buckeye Nation believes that he is the right man for the job and he can lead his troops to the Promised Land eventually, that’s neither here nor there.

The confidence in his ability is what sets Miller apart from Brantley, the Buckeyes and their fans have grown with Braxton all season and he has gotten the necessary experience to lead his team to a bowl game in his first year in Scarlet and grey.

I also want to point out that the Florida Gators are pretty much in their own back yard being only an hour and a half away from home. The entire country knows that Buckeye Nation spans the globe and with that, its fans travel extremely well.

The Buckeyes will try to lean on emotion and support from the 12th man in the stand as much as possible.

Which brings us to the last match up I want to touch on, our Buckeyes are heading into a hostile environment, and they are going to need every ounce of cheer that Buckeye Nation has to offer.

Yes, you got it right, whose fans will be the loudest, and who will cheer louder when a big play happens? It is up to us as fans of the Ohio State University to will our players to victory on the field.

They need it, and we as fans need it. Good Luck to the Buckeyes and here’s to hopes of bringing a Gator Bowl win back to Columbus, Ohio.
