Ohio State Women Host Howard Tonight

The Ohio State University Women's Basketball Team has jumped from 25th in the rankings to 18th. A nice reward for their consistent play over the last two games. Their next game is tonight at 7pm when they will be facing off with the women from Howard. On the surface it appears that the Buckeyes (2-0) should not have much of a problem with the Bisons (1-2). Howard finished last season in the middle of the Mid Eastern Atlantic Conference standings. However, they do return 4 starters from last season, and as they get more games under their belt they promise to offer a greater challenge for each and every opponent. Ohio State will be no exception.

Tonight's game, however, is only Howard's 4th game, and it appears that their overall skill set is no match for the Buckeyes. Ohio State easily defeated Tennessee State, then held off a much tougher opponent in Temple. But competition brings out the best in these Buckeye women, and Temple pushed the Ohio State players to give their best throughout the game. This resulted in a career high 24 points for Tayler Hill. As the Owls made a push to defeat the Buckeyes, bringing their score within 2 points of the leader with just 14 seconds left, Samantha Prahalis stepped up and hit her free throws to keep the Buckeyes in the lead.

Expect that level of play tonight as the Buckeyes look to take their season to 3-0 at the expense of the Bisons. Howard will have its moments, but each time they try to push hard against Ohio State, it will only foster the extreme competitive nature of the Buckeye women. Look for Hill to repeat her performance from the last game, and for Prahalis, Stokes Adams and Beach to put on a clinic.

The game is at Value City Arena. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m.

You can see the game live by streaming it or you can follow it on Gametracker at the Buckeyes Official Web Site.
