The Ohio State Womens Soccer Team has been awarded an at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes (10-8-2) who finished the season seventh in the Big Ten, lost in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament to Illinois who is ranked 18th in the nation. Their finish and strength of schedule was good enough for them to continue post-season play. On Saturday the Buckeyes will be visitors at Tennessee. The Volunteers made it to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament this year, and are currently ranked 23rd in the nation. It will be a good challenge for the Buckeyes, who hope to move on to play either Illinois State or Milwaukee in the second round. The match is scheduled for Saturday at afternoon at 2:00.
The Ohio State Mens Soccer Team lost to 9th ranked Indiana in their final game of the season, which finishes their Big Ten season in second place. Today the Buckeyes play their first game of the Big Ten Tournament against 7th seeded Penn State. The game is in Ann Arbor at the Michigan soccer complex and starts at 3:45. You can follow it live on Gametracker, or stream it at the Big Ten Digital Network. The semifinal games at 1:00 and 3:30 Friday afternoon, and the final at noon on Sunday can all be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
The Buckeyes continue their success in other fall sports as well.
In true Buckeye form, on Sunday Ohio State Mens Tennis doubles players Blaz Rola and Chase Buchanan won the 2011 USTA National Indoor Intercollegiate Double Championship.
The Ohio State Womens Field Hockey Team has also received an at-large spot in the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes will play their opening round game against Old Dominion this Saturday morning at 11:30 in Norfolk, VA.
